Sons of the East (AU)

About

Sons of the East bring a rootsy, warm sound to indie folk that sits somewhere between a campfire singalong and a properly crafted record. The Australian trio of Nic Johnston, Dan Wallage, and Jack Rollins built their reputation on close harmonies and songs that manage to feel both grand and intimate at once. A reviewer for Clunk magazine compared their debut full length to Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, and Garth Brooks, which gives you a decent sense of the territory they work in. Their 2022 album Palomar Parade was the moment things really clicked into place, earning strong praise and a deluxe edition the following year with new material including the single "Ain't So Easy". They have taken that music to some serious stages too, playing SXSW, Latitude Festival, and Colours of Ostrava. More recently they dropped the singles "Hard to Tell" and "Head Above the Water", keeping the momentum going with extensive touring across Europe, North America, and Australia.
