Sophie and the Giants

About

Also known as: Sophie and the Giants, Purple Disco Machine

Sheffield's Sophie and the Giants is essentially the project of one person: singer songwriter Sophie Scott, who writes every song and steers the whole creative direction. After an early run of indie pop singles, the act broke through on a much bigger scale when she teamed up with German DJ Purple Disco Machine for 'Hypnotized' in 2020. Rooted in italo disco, the track landed five platinum records in Italy and a diamond record in France, kicking off a run of European dance floor success. That partnership with Purple Disco Machine has stayed central to the project, producing 'In the Dark' in 2022, which went platinum in five countries including France and Italy, and 'Paradise' in 2023. Along the way Sophie has also collaborated with Benny Benassi, Dardust, and R3hab, the last of those resulting in 'All Night', a track built around an interpolation of Blue's 'All Rise'. A new EP titled 00:00 arrived in 2025, alongside a string of fresh singles.
