About
Soul Birds are a Rotterdam soul collective built around a rotating cast of vocalists and a tight live band. After a twelve year break they returned to the stage with a show that pulls together 90s soul classics, contemporary R&B, neo soul, gospel and reggae into a single evening. The house band is anchored by Manoah Sapulette on keys, Frenkie Lukie Latumahina on guitar, David Simon Matakena on bass and Quincy Corbett on drums, with backing vocals from Tanisha Ribeiro and Roy Schaduw rounding out the sound. The live format is a real centrepiece of what Soul Birds do. Featured vocalists Charissa Melanin, Quincy George, Rass King and Natalia Santos each bring their own style, and the whole point is hearing those different voices and generations lock into something together. Expect strong lead vocals, plenty of musical chemistry and unexpected collaborations woven in among the familiar material.
