About
Montréal's Spectral Wound play black metal with a stripped back directness that sets them apart from most of their Canadian peers. While Quebec has its own distinct black metal scene rooted in Francophone history and folklore, Spectral Wound aren't interested in any of that. Their sound locks onto what you might call the universal core of black metal and doesn't let go, blunt and punchy in a way that feels almost like a reset of the genre. Signed to Profound Lore Records, they've built up a solid discography since forming in 2014, running from Terra Nullius through to Songs of Blood and Mire in 2024. They've also been upfront about their politics, making clear that their lyrics sit in firm opposition to fascism and racist ideology, a direct pushback against the NSBM corner of the scene.
