About
Also known as: ST12
The name ST12 comes from an address: Jl. Stasiun Timur No. 12, a rental studio near Bandung railway station where the members kept running into each other before they became a band. Formed in January 2004, the Indonesian pop group was named by drummer Pepep's father, and its lineup mixed tastes from jazz to rock. After failing to land a record deal, they went independent and put out their debut album Jalan Terbaik. The band was hit by tragedy during that early run when guitarist Iman Rush died after a brain hemorrhage, and their second album P.U.S.P.A was released in tribute to him. Their independent success caught the eye of Trinity Optima Production, which distributed albums like Pangeran Cinta. In 2012 Universal Music Indonesia took over and reshaped the group with new members, later adding Dimas Moersas. Lentera Hati and Terjemahan Hati followed on that label.
