About Stevie Wonder

Few artists have reshaped popular music as thoroughly as Stevie Wonder. Blind from infancy, he signed to Motown's Tamla label at just 11 years old, and by 13 his single "Fingertips" had topped the Billboard Hot 100, making him the youngest solo artist ever to do so. As a teenager he was already one of Motown's biggest acts, all harmonica energy and a voice that cut right through. The real leap came in the early 1970s with what fans call his classic period, a run of albums from Music of My Mind through Songs in the Key of Life that rewired what R&B could sound like, leaning hard into synthesizers and complex, socially conscious arrangements. Three consecutive Album of the Year Grammys followed, a feat no one else has pulled off. He went on to clock number one hits across three straight decades, sell over 100 million records, and rack up 25 Grammy Awards, more than any other male solo artist.
