WONDER is a duo from Leeuwarden made up of singer Marije de Vries and Patrick Schaafstal, who also works as a producer and songwriter for Passengers. They are a couple as well as a band, and you can hear that closeness in the songs. Their style is best described as dark pop, built around slow, carefully constructed songs that pull you in. The mood is gentle but a little shadowy. If you need reference points, think of the atmosphere of Fleetwood Mac and Radiohead somewhere in the distance, with a few detours towards The XX. It is music made for headphones and quiet rooms rather than big singalongs.
