About
Stochelo Rosenberg is one of the most gifted gypsy jazz guitarists around, a Sinti musician from Helmond whose playing sits squarely in the tradition of Django Reinhardt while carrying its own unmistakable voice. He co founded the Rosenberg Trio with his cousins Nonnie and Nous'che in 1989, and the group quickly established themselves on the international circuit, performing at the legendary Django Reinhardt festival in Samois and recording a string of albums throughout the 1990s and 2000s. One of the trio's biggest moments was touring and recording with Stéphane Grappelli, including a concert at Carnegie Hall marking Grappelli's 85th birthday. Beyond performing, Rosenberg has put real effort into keeping gypsy jazz alive for the next generation by founding the Rosenberg Academy, an online school dedicated to teaching the style. His solo discography runs deep too, with collaborative records alongside French guitarist Romane and appearances on albums by artists as varied as The Manhattan Transfer and Laura Fygi.
