Story of the Year built their reputation on the kind of urgent, anthemic post hardcore that could fill a room with crowd singalongs, and their 2003 major label debut Page Avenue is still the record most fans point to first. Singles like "Until the Day I Die" and "Anthem of Our Dying Day" drove the album to Gold certification and nearly 850,000 US copies sold, which is a serious number for a band rooted in the St. Louis underground. The music video for "Anthem" was even directed by Joe Hahn of Linkin Park. Their catalog kept evolving from there, moving through the heavier In the Wake of Determination and the well received The Black Swan on Epitaph Records, before a crowd funded fifth album Wolves arrived in 2017. Then in 2023, with bassist Adam Russell back in the fold, they released Tear Me to Pieces and followed it with a world tour, proving there is still plenty of fuel left in the tank.
