Strung Out have been one of the most technically sharp outfits in the punk world since forming in Simi Valley, California in 1991. Signed early to Fat Mike's Fat Wreck Chords label, they built a reputation for blending melodic hardcore with heavy metal in ways that set them apart from most skate punk acts. Their 2002 album An American Paradox was the first to crack the Billboard 200, and they kept pushing their sound forward through records like Exile in Oblivion, Blackhawks Over Los Angeles, and Transmission.Alpha.Delta. Their 2019 album Songs of Armor and Devotion is widely considered their most technically ambitious work, cranking the tempo back up after a couple of more measured records. The band has had its share of lineup shifts over the years, most recently finalizing a new configuration with drummer Daniel Blume and bassist Derik Envy. Their latest album Dead Rebellion came out in 2023, and they have continued to tour internationally behind it.
