Six UK number ones, five platinum albums, and a lineup that kept changing until the original trio finally took back their name. The Sugababes story is one of pop's wilder sagas. Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan, and Siobhán Donaghy formed the group in 1998, and their debut single "Overload" cracked the UK top ten straight away. After Donaghy left in 2001 and Buena in 2005, successive lineups kept delivering hits like "Freak Like Me", "Push the Button" and "About You Now", making them the second most successful British girl group for UK number ones, behind only the Spice Girls. The original three eventually reunited, reclaimed the Sugababes name in 2019, and reissued their debut One Touch for its 20th anniversary in 2021. In late 2022 they put out The Lost Tapes, a full album built from previously unreleased leaked recordings. Teen Vogue has called them one of the best girl groups of all time, and three of their studio albums rank among the top ten best selling girl group albums ever in the UK.
