About
Sun June make the kind of dream pop that feels like late night drives with the windows down, hazy and a little melancholic. The Austin five piece have built their sound across three albums, starting with Years in 2018 on Keeled Scales, then Somewhere in 2021, and most recently Bad Dream Jaguar in 2023 on Run for Cover. That third record carries the fingerprints of Feist, Frank Ocean, Loma, and Caroline Says, and it came together in an unusual way: vocalists Laura Colwell and guitarist Stephen Salisbury were living 1,300 miles apart, trading demos back and forth until the pieces clicked. The band also did a live session at KEXP in early 2024, which is worth seeking out if you want to hear what they sound like when it all comes together in a room.
