About
Also known as: 심포니 엑스
Symphony X built their name on pairing shredding guitar and keys with a classical backbone, and the band name itself came from that mix: the "Symphony" bit for the classical leanings, the "X" for the unknown. The New Jersey group, led by guitarist Michael Romeo alongside keyboardist Michael Pinnella, got their start in Japan, where their first records came out before Europe caught on through Inside Out. Things really picked up with The Divine Wings of Tragedy, then V: The New Mythology Suite, a concept album about Atlantis. The Odyssey followed with a 24 minute take on Homer's epic, and it was the first album recorded entirely in Romeo's home studio, The Dungeon. Paradise Lost came out in 2007, and Iconoclast in 2011 climbed to number 76 on the Billboard 200. Vocalist Russell Allen, drummer Jason Rullo and bassist Michael LePond round out the lineup.
