Terje Tysland is a Norwegian singer, songwriter, guitarist and accordion player from Namsos who has been putting out records since the late 1970s. His breakthrough came with Mytji arti in 1978, and he kept building from there: the single Ringdans hit number one on Norsktoppen in 1981, and the 1987 album Gutta på by'n turned into a genuine commercial success, complete with a country duet alongside Claudia Scott. What makes his catalogue genuinely interesting is how varied it gets. He teamed up with hard rock act Clawfinger for the 1993 album Fullar enn fullmånen, and then swung the other way entirely by collaborating with Oppdal Spellemannslag on Hurra for mæ two years later. His 2009 record Lidderli gla even wades into politics, touching on freedom of speech and health care. Still performing well into his seventies, with more than fifty shows a year to his name.
