Terry Bozzio is the kind of drummer other drummers talk about in hushed tones. The San Francisco native built his reputation through a run with Frank Zappa from 1975 to 1978, playing on landmark records like Zoot Allures and Zappa in New York, and even stepping into character as The Devil during live performances of 'Titties and Beer'. Zappa wrote The Black Page specifically for him, a piece so technically demanding it became one of the composer's signature works. After Zappa, Bozzio co founded Missing Persons with vocalist Dale Bozzio and guitarist Warren Cuccurullo, scoring a gold record with Spring Session M. He also held down the drum seat for U.K. alongside Eddie Jobson and John Wetton, recorded the Grammy winning Jeff Beck's Guitar Shop, and later formed Bozzio Levin Stevens with Tony Levin and Steve Stevens. Rolling Stone ranked him 17th on their list of the 100 greatest drummers.
