The Chainsmokers, the New York DJ and production duo of Alex Pall and Drew Taggart, turned a cheeky viral moment into a full blown career. Their 2014 track "#Selfie" was their first big break, cracking the top twenty in multiple countries and setting them on a path that would eventually make them the highest paid DJs in the world according to Forbes in 2019, knocking Calvin Harris off the top spot after six years. From there the momentum never really stopped. "Roses" went multiplatinum, "Don't Let Me Down" featuring Daya won the Grammy for Best Dance Recording, and "Closer" with Halsey hit number one in the US, the UK, and over a dozen other countries. Their debut album Memories...Do Not Open topped the Billboard 200, and they have kept releasing music at a steady clip ever since, with five studio albums now under their belt, the most recent being Summertime Friends in 2023, plus a third EP called No Hard Feelings dropped in 2024.
