The Dublin Legends carry on the legacy of The Dubliners, the Irish folk group that ran for fifty years before calling it a day in 2012. When frontman John Sheahan stepped back, the name retired with him, but several members kept going. Seán Cannon, who was already a Dubliner, joined Gerry O'Connor, Shay Kavanagh and Paul Watchorn to form this four piece, keeping the tradition very much alive. Their set is built around the kind of songs that feel like they belong in a loud, warm pub: Whiskey in the Jar, Dirty Old Town, The Irish Rover, Seven Drunken Nights and Molly Malone among them. Fiddle, banjo and guitar do the heavy lifting, with no frills needed beyond the playing itself. The four of them have a knack for pulling a crowd into the music, stomping and singing along before they know what hit them.
