About

The Heavy have spent years threading together funk, soul, blues and gritty rock into something that sounds like nothing else from Bath. Their 2009 single "How You Like Me Now?" is their calling card, famously blasting through the speakers at Obama's 2012 election night party in Chicago, and earning them two encores on The Late Show with David Letterman, a first for the show. Formed around the friendship of vocalist Kelvin Swaby and guitarist Dan Taylor, the band signed to Counter Records and Ninja Tune, releasing albums including The House That Dirt Built and The Glorious Dead. Their music has a habit of turning up in unexpected places. "Short Change Hero" opened Borderlands 2 and served as the theme for Strike Back, while "What Makes A Good Man?" soundtracked everything from the Royal Rumble to a David Beckham ad campaign for H&M. The band even recorded an original track, "Put It On The Line", as the theme for Borderlands 3. AllMusic summed up their sound as a potent fusion of funk, soul, hip hop and garage rock, which honestly covers most of it.
