Few bands commit to a persona as hard as The Hives. The Swedish five piece from Fagersta have worn matching black and white tuxedos since day one, performed with theatrical swagger, and somehow made garage punk feel like a full blown spectacle. Their breakthrough came with Veni Vidi Vicious and the unstoppable "Hate to Say I Told You So", a track that ended up on the Spider Man soundtrack and in the Forza Horizon video game, cementing their status far beyond the indie circuit. Over seven studio albums they have kept the energy levels reckless and the riffs blunt. Tyrannosaurus Hives delivered "Walk Idiot Walk" and scooped five Swedish Grammis awards, while The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons arrived in 2023 with official music videos for "Bogus Operandi" and "Countdown to Shutdown". Their most recent record, The Hives Forever Forever The Hives, landed in 2025. Critics have long called them one of the best live rock acts around, and nothing so far suggests they are ready to tone it down.
