Few bands have reinvented themselves as convincingly as The Horrors. Starting out in Southend on Sea in 2005 with a gnarly garage punk sound rooted in 1960s obscurities and post punk heroes like Bauhaus and the Birthday Party, they quickly grabbed attention with their debut single 'Sheena Is a Parasite' and a cover of NME. Then came Primary Colours in 2009, a total pivot toward lush, keyboard driven shoegaze that landed them a Mercury Prize nomination and the top spot in NME's best albums of the year. They kept evolving from there. Skying pushed further into psychedelic territory, Luminous arrived in 2014, and V followed in 2017, with all five of those records cracking the UK Top 40. Their sixth album Night Life came out in 2025, with a lineup that now includes members of The Ninth Wave, Telegram, and Gengahr alongside founding members Faris Badwan and Rhys Webb. A band that never quite sounds the same twice.
