About
Also known as: ザ・キルズ
The Kills are a London based rock duo built around American vocalist Alison Mosshart and English guitarist Jamie Hince, and their whole sound is rooted in deliberate minimalism: drum machines, raw guitar, and a genuine sense of unease. They formed in 2001 after exchanging tapes across the Atlantic, eventually settling on their name because it sounded like a band that could exist in any decade. Their debut album Keep On Your Mean Side was recorded in just two weeks at the same studio where The White Stripes made Elephant, and it set the template for a run of UK charting records that stretched through No Wow, Midnight Boom, and Blood Pressures. Midnight Boom in particular found its way into the cultural fabric through TV shows like Gossip Girl and 90210, with tracks like Sour Cherry and Cheap and Cheerful turning up in film trailers, video games and even a Fendi perfume commercial. Their fifth album Ash and Ice landed in the UK top 20 in 2016.
