If you've ever had neighbors bang on your wall over loud music, you'll appreciate where The Knocks got their name. The New York duo, Ben "B Roc" Ruttner and James "JPatt" Patterson, built their reputation through a string of infectious electronic and dance tracks that landed them serious cultural traction, from a nationally televised Corona ad to number one spots on HypeMachine. Before carving out their own lane, they were behind the boards for Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Britney Spears, and Ellie Goulding, among others. Their catalog spans four full length albums and five EPs, with standout singles like "Classic" featuring Powers, "Ride or Die" with Foster the People, and "Bodies" with MUNA. Collaborations with Sofi Tukker, Purple Disco Machine, and ODESZA round out a resume that earned them two Grammy nominations, one for Best Dance/Electronic Album and one for Best Remixed Recording. Their 2022 track "Slow Song" with Dragonette shows they're still very much in the game.
