About
The Lasses are a Dutch folk duo made up of Margot Merah and Sophie Janna, whose sound draws on Irish, Scottish and American folk traditions alongside their own original compositions. Their voices are the core of everything they do, blending and building off each other in a way that feels genuinely complementary rather than decorative. They accompany themselves on guitar, ukulele, shrutibox and bodhrán, keeping the arrangements intimate and rooted. Over the years they have taken their music far beyond the Netherlands, performing everywhere from Scotland and Canada to the United States and Japan. At home they are regulars in Dutch theatres and have also played venues like Paradiso and the Concertgebouw. Their live credits include opening for Irish singer songwriter Luka Bloom and sharing stages with artists such as Tangarine, VanWyck, Tim Knol and Leoni Jansen.
