About
VanWyck is the solo project of Rotterdam born Christine Oele, who adopted her grandmother's maiden name as her stage name. Before going solo, she spent years playing keys and rapping in the jazz dance band Hit the Boom!, then fronting Nevada Drive, a band she took all the way to Lowlands festival across two albums. The solo pivot arrived in 2015 with the EP Tanned Legs, followed by a bold self imposed challenge: write and release one new song every week for a year. That marathon exercise fed her first two albums, An Average Woman and Molten Rock. Her third record, God is in the Detour, earned four stars from MOJO magazine. She kept the momentum going with The Epic Tale of the Stranded Man in 2022, a concept album she paired with a full theatrical tour, and then Dust Chaser in 2024. Everything comes out on her own label, Maiden Name Records.
