The Marías have built something genuinely distinctive out of Los Angeles: a sound that blends English and Spanish lyrics with jazz percussion, guitar riffs, and horn solos, landing somewhere between dream pop and psychedelic soul. Lead vocalist María Zardoya brings a tone shaped by influences ranging from Sade and Nina Simone to Selena and Erykah Badu, while drummer and producer Josh Conway draws from Tame Impala and Radiohead. That mix shouldn't work on paper, but it really does. Their 2024 album Submarine gave them their biggest moment yet, with 'No One Noticed' going viral and cracking the Billboard Hot 100 at number 22. They've racked up notable collaborations too, including 'Otro Atardecer' with Bad Bunny and tracks with Cuco and Tainy. Their single 'Hush' had already topped the Billboard Adult Alternative Airplay chart back in 2021, and the momentum hasn't let up since, earning them a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards.
