About
Also known as: Meatmen
Few punk bands have committed so hard to being genuinely offensive as The Meatmen. Formed in Lansing, Michigan in 1981 by frontman Tesco Vee, the band built their reputation on outrageous stage antics and lyrics that regularly made people uncomfortable, which was very much the point. Their early releases came out on Touch and Go Records, the label that grew out of the fanzine Vee co founded, and that DIY spirit has stuck with the band through decades of lineup changes and reformations. Over the years the Meatmen have pulled in members of Minor Threat, Necros, Negative Approach and Electric Six, shifting from raw punk toward a heavier, metal influenced sound and back again. After disbanding in 1996 they reformed in 2008 with a new crew and have kept recording since, dropping the full length Savage Sagas in 2014. The revolving door of collaborators has never slowed them down.
