About

The Mute Gods are a progressive rock supergroup built from the touring circles of some serious players: bassist and Chapman Stick man Nick Beggs, drummer Marco Minnemann and keyboardist Roger King. Beggs got the ball rolling in 2014 by calling up King, whom he knew from Steve Hackett's band, and Minnemann got the drum stool after Beggs toured with him in Steven Wilson's band. Their debut, Do Nothing till You Hear from Me, arrived in 2016 and Beggs called it a disgruntled rant at the dystopia we've created for ourselves and our children. The title track drew on Eisenhower's warning about the military industrial complex and the strange story of geologist Phil Schneider. The band picked up the Vanguard award at the 2016 Progressive Music Awards. Tardigrades Will Inherit the Earth followed in 2017, which Beggs described as angry as a rattlesnake with its tail caught in a car door. Third album Atheists and Believers came in 2019, with a guest spot from Rush's Alex Lifeson and a more melodic, poppier edge.
