Few punk bands can claim they helped drag an entire genre back into the mainstream, but The Offspring genuinely did. Formed in Garden Grove, California in 1984 under the name Manic Subsidal, they spent a decade grinding through the underground before their 1994 Epitaph album Smash changed everything. That record, which kicked off with the massive "Come Out and Play", shifted over 11 million copies and remains one of the best selling albums ever released on an independent label. They followed it up with Americana in 1998, an absolute monster of a record that gave the world "Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)", "Why Don't You Get a Job?", and "The Kids Aren't Alright" all in one go, peaking at number two on the Billboard 200. Over a career spanning more than four decades, The Offspring have sold upwards of 45 million records and released eleven studio albums. Their 2008 single "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid" proved they still had real chart muscle, sitting at the top of the Billboard rock charts for eleven weeks. The band pushed out their latest studio album Supercharged in October 2024, showing no signs of slowing down.
