About
The Outside Track bring together the Celtic traditions of Scotland, Ireland and Cape Breton into one group, blending songs and stepdance in a way that feels both rooted and alive. Members include fiddler Ailie Robertson, a BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician finalist, and Fiona Black, a winner of the BBC's Fame Academy, alongside Mairi Rankin, who comes from the legendary Rankin family of Mabou, Cape Breton. Their album Flash Company earned them the German Radio Critics' Prize, and as a group they took home Best Group at the 2012 LiveIreland Music Awards alongside a Tradition In Review award. They were also nominated for the MG Alba Scots Traditional Music Award in 2013. With a catalogue stretching from their 2007 self titled debut through to Christmas Star in 2022, they have built a genuinely impressive body of work across pan Celtic folk.
