Few bands did more to blur the line between the sweaty energy of a punk show and the floor filling pull of a dance club than The Rapture. The New York outfit built their sound around a restless mix of post punk, acid house, disco, and electronica, and their 2002 DFA Records track 'House of Jealous Lovers' became a calling card for the whole dance punk revival of the early 2000s, peaking at number 27 on the UK Singles Chart. Their debut full length Echoes earned them Album of the Year from Pitchfork and runner up in NME, no small feat when the White Stripes were the competition. The harmonized vocals of Luke Jenner and Mattie Safer gave the band a warmth that set them apart from their peers. After lineup changes and a quiet disbanding around 2014, the band reunited in 2019 and announced a comeback in 2025, with Jenner holding down the fort from the original crew.
