About
Also known as: Raveonettes, The Ravaonettes
The Raveonettes are a Danish duo who build noisy, hard edged guitar songs on top of sweet, Everly Brothers style vocal harmonies. Sune Rose Wagner and Sharin Foo mix the simple structures of 1950s and 60s rock with driving beats and dark lyrics about crime, lust, betrayal and worse, with The Velvet Underground never far from the picture. Their first full album, Chain Gang of Love, had every song written in the key of B flat major, which is the kind of constraint they enjoy. After Whip It On won Best Rock Album at the Danish Music Awards, they became one of the bands tipped as the next wave. Pretty in Black brought in Ronnie Spector, Maureen Tucker and Martin Rev as guests. Later they dropped Pe'ahi as a surprise release with no announcement, and spent 2016 putting out one new song per month, collected as 2016 Atomized. They came back to the stage in 2022.
