Edinburgh's Rezillos came out of the punk wave of the late 1970s but always felt like the odd ones out in the best possible way. While their peers were writing anthems of rage and social collapse, the Rezillos were obsessing over sci fi B movies, 1950s rock and roll, and glam, drawing comparisons to the Cramps and the B 52s rather than the Clash. Their debut album Can't Stand the Rezillos, released in 1978, is considered a genuine classic of British punk's first wave, yet the band fell apart just four months after it came out. Guitarist Jo Callis went on to co write "Don't You Want Me" for the Human League, while vocalists Eugene Reynolds and Fay Fife kept the spirit alive with the Revillos. The Rezillos reformed in 2001 and have been playing live regularly ever since, occasionally putting out new singles to keep things interesting.
