About
The Rions won Triple J's Unearthed High competition in 2021 with "Night Light", and the prize came with a mentoring session from Lime Cordiale, fellow Northern Beaches natives. The four piece (Noah Blockley on vocals and bass, Harley Wilson and Asher McLean on guitars, Tom Partington on drums) have been together since 2016 and play a bright mix of indie rock and pop. They sit comfortably alongside Lime Cordiale and Ocean Alley, and list everyone from Arctic Monkeys and the Beatles to Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder as influences. Their 2024 EP Happiness in a Place It Shouldn't Be reached number 35 on the ARIA charts, and two of its tracks, "Physical Medicine" and "Passionfruit", landed in Triple J's Hottest 100 of 2024 at 46 and 61. They followed that with a run of singles including "Shut You Out" and "Maybe I'm Just a Freak", building towards their debut album Everything Every Single Day. They have also kept the visuals coming, with official videos for songs like "Scary Movies" and "Minivan".
