Few Irish bands can claim a record quite like The Saw Doctors. Their 1990 single "I Useta Lover" spent nine weeks at number one in Ireland and remains the country's all time best selling single. That cheeky, irreverent song about a lost girlfriend was a perfect introduction to a band that had already been winning crowds over with ferocious live shows while supporting the likes of the Hothouse Flowers and the Waterboys. Based in Tuam, County Galway, and anchored throughout their career by the songwriting duo of Davy Carton and Leo Moran, the band built a catalogue of eighteen Irish Top 30 singles across seven studio albums. Their 1996 album Same Oul' Town peaked at number six in the UK Albums Chart, and the "Small Bit of Love" EP earned them a slot on Top of the Pops. They run their own label, Shamtown Records, and a Meteor Ireland Music Awards Lifetime Achievement nod in 2008 confirmed what their fanbase had long known.
