Best known for "Lola's Theme", the disco house track that hit number 1 on the UK Singles Chart in July 2004, The Shapeshifters have been a fixture in house music for over two decades. The project started as a duo with Simon Marlin and Swedish producer Max Reich, signed first to Positiva and then to Defected Records from 2008 onwards. Along the way they worked with some serious names: Nile Rodgers on "Sensitivity", Frankie Knuckles on "The Ones You Love", and remixes for George Michael, Christina Aguilera, Faithless and Moby, among others. Since Max Reich stepped back in 2017, Marlin has kept the Shapeshifters name going as a solo act. He released "When Love Breaks Down" and "Try My Love (On for Size)", collaborated with Kimberly Davis and Billy Porter on tracks put out through Glitterbox, and in 2022 dropped the studio album "Let Loose", followed by a Deluxe Edition in 2023. The Nocturnal Groove label and radio show have kept him connected to fans well beyond the dancefloor.
