The SteelDrivers have been quietly earning their stripes as one of bluegrass's most compelling acts since signing to Rounder Records in 2007. Their self titled debut introduced the world to a then unknown Chris Stapleton on lead vocals, and the band quickly racked up Grammy nominations for songs like "Blue Side of the Mountain" and "Where Rainbows Never Die" off their second record, Reckless. Stapleton moved on in 2010, but the band kept evolving rather than stumbling. The current lineup, anchored by fiddler Tammy Rogers, banjoist Richard Bailey, and mandolinist Brent Truitt, hit a high point with The Muscle Shoals Recordings, which took home the Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album in 2015. Guitarist and vocalist Matt Dame joined as lead singer in 2021, keeping the Nashville outfit's tradition of finding fresh voices without losing that raw, soulful bluegrass sound they built their name on.
