About

Also known as: Jack Kevorkian & The Suicide Machines, Suicide Machines, The Suicide Mashines

Few bands in the ska punk world packed as much into two minutes as The Suicide Machines. Formed in Detroit in 1991 under the wonderfully chaotic name Jack Kevorkian and the Suicide Machines, the group built their reputation by fusing punk rock, ska, and hardcore into something fast, aggressive, and politically charged. Their 1996 debut Destruction by Definition landed them national attention during the mid 1990s punk revival, and the follow up Battle Hymns pushed even harder, with nearly every track clocking in under two minutes. After a stretch of more radio friendly output, they returned to their roots on A Match and Some Gasoline, taking sharp aim at the Bush administration and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The band split in 2006, reunited in 2009, and eventually released Revolution Spring in 2020 on Fat Wreck Chords, their first new studio material in fifteen years. Through it all, vocalist Jason Navarro has been the one constant, anchoring a band that has never really mellowed out.
