About

Signed to Ronnie Wood's Wooden Records after being spotted at The Jamm in 2006, The Thirst quickly built a reputation as one of London's more exciting indie rock acts. The Brixton four piece, built around brothers Mensah and Kwame Hart alongside guitarist Mark Lenihan and drummer Marcus Harris, draws on a wide range of influences from Jimi Hendrix to punk and drum and bass. They released The Thirst EP in 2007 and their debut album On the Brink in 2008, earning generally positive reviews. Their festival run was impressive too, taking in Glastonbury, the Isle of Wight Festival, and Hyde Park Calling, plus support slots with The Rolling Stones and The Sex Pistols. A trip to SXSW in 2008 saw Tom Robinson single them out as the festival highlight, and they followed that up with a live session on Marc Riley's BBC 6 Music show Brain Surgery. The band later competed in the Festival Internacional de la Canción de Viña del Mar in Chile as representatives of England.
