Few punk bands from the class of 1976 left a mark as clear as The Vibrators. The London four piece broke through with Pure Mania in 1977, a debut that cracked the UK top 50 and later earned a spot in The Guinness Encyclopedia of Popular Music's list of the 50 best punk albums ever. Their single "Baby Baby" became a punk classic, and "Automatic Lover" pushed them to No. 35 on the UK charts and landed them a slot on Top of the Pops. They shared stages with Iggy Pop and Ian Hunter, and played a key role at London's Roxy Club during the genre's explosive early days. Their influence stretched well beyond their chart run. Stiff Little Fingers named themselves after a Vibrators track, and The Exploited turned "Troops of Tomorrow" into an album title. Despite constant lineup changes over the decades, the band kept releasing records and touring. The original lineup reunited in 2020 to record Mars Casino with their old collaborator Chris Spedding, before wrapping things up with Fall into the Sky in 2022.
