About
Also known as: TWDY
This Will Destroy You started life as a four piece that sounded a bit like Radiohead, hated the results, and ditched vocals after writing one instrumental song that just worked. The name came from a track title that was rejected as too pretentious, and the band found that hilarious. They are still happy to be a little obnoxious about it. The San Marcos, Texas group builds long, atmospheric pieces from layers of effects soaked guitar and big swings between quiet and loud. Their debut Young Mountain began as a demo sold on CD R at shows, then got picked up by Magic Bullet Records and praised by Rock Sound, which named it the best release of 2006. Their self titled second album followed, and its track The Mighty Rio Grande ended up in films like Moneyball and Room. Their fourth album, Another Language, entered the Billboard Heatseekers chart at number 7.
