Thunder built their reputation on big, hooky hard rock with genuine blues muscle underneath, and their debut album Backstreet Symphony from 1990 is still one of the genre's standout records, landing at number 21 on the UK Albums Chart and going gold. The London band, anchored by vocalist Danny Bowes and guitarist Luke Morley, hit their commercial peak with the 1992 follow up Laughing on Judgement Day, which reached number 2 in the UK, and Between them those first two albums put nine singles into the UK top 40. Thunder have broken up and reformed more than once, but they kept getting better at it. Their 2015 comeback album Wonder Days gave them their first UK top ten in two decades, peaking at number 9, and Rip It Up in 2017 climbed even higher to number 3. Recent videos for tracks like The Western Sky and Last One Out Turn Off The Lights show they have not lost the knack for a hard rock anthem with real staying power.
