Tinashe Jorgenson Kachingwe built her early reputation on a run of self produced mixtapes she recorded in her bedroom, teaching herself to mix, edit videos, and produce beats with Logic Pro after her girl group the Stunners fell apart in 2011. That DIY foundation paid off when "2 On" featuring Schoolboy Q broke her into the mainstream in 2014, peaking at number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100 and leading her debut album Aquarius onto the Billboard 200. After parting ways with RCA, she went fully independent and released four albums on her own terms: Songs for You, 333, BB/Ang3l, and Quantum Baby. The last of those delivered her biggest solo moment yet when "Nasty" went viral in 2024, marking her first solo Hot 100 entry. A remix of the album track "No Broke Boys" with Disco Lines then crossed over onto international dance charts, showing a side of her sound that keeps surprising people.
