About
TOBi has built one of the more quietly compelling careers in Canadian rap and R&B, with a catalogue that keeps earning recognition long after release. His 2020 album Elements Vol. 1 won the Juno Award for Rap Recording of the Year, and his 2023 album PANIC doubled down on that momentum, picking up both Rap Album of the Year and Rap Single of the Year at the 2024 Junos for the track "Someone I Knew". PANIC also made the shortlist for the 2024 Polaris Music Prize, cementing his reputation as one of the sharpest voices in the Canadian scene. The Nigerian born, Brampton raised artist cites Gil Scott Heron, Frank Ocean, Marvin Gaye and Andre 3000 as lyrical touchstones, and that range shows in his music, which sits somewhere between introspective rap and soulful R&B without being pinned down to either. His debut Still featured a guest spot from VanJess, while the deluxe edition pulled in names like The Game, Shad and Haviah Mighty. Elements Vol. 2 arrived in 2025, keeping his run of work going strong.
