About
Also known as: T Edwards, T. Edwards, Todd 'The God' Edwards
Todd Edwards built his name on chopping vocal samples into tiny pieces and stacking them into dizzy collages over four on the floor beats. Nicknamed "Todd the God", the New Jersey producer helped shape speed garage and UK garage, and he was a big influence on Daft Punk, who nodded to him on their album Homework. His 1994 single "Saved My Life" became a UK club hit, and his two remixes of St Germain's "Alabama Blues" were his real breakthrough. He went on to remix hundreds of artists, from Justice and Klaxons to Dimitri from Paris, and co produced and sang on Daft Punk's "Face to Face". He later stepped away from music for a few years, then came back and co wrote "Fragments of Time" on Random Access Memories, which earned him a Grammy. His first Billboard Dance Club Songs number one, "You're Sorry", arrived in 2019, and Defected Records has since put his back catalogue online.
