Tommie Christiaan, born Tommie Christiaan Venneker in Amsterdam, has built a career that spans musical theatre, film, television, and competitive reality shows. He first caught wider attention when he landed the lead role of Troy Bolton in High School Musical, earning a John Kraaijkamp Musical Award nomination for Aanstormend Talent. That role actually led him to withdraw from the finals of Op zoek naar Joseph in 2008, but he came back swinging in 2011 and won Op zoek naar Zorro, which handed him the title role in the Zorro musical for the 2011 to 2012 season. Since then he has taken on roles ranging from Prince Erik in The Little Mermaid to Emilio Estefan in On Your Feet, and played Jesus in the televised Passion in 2018. On TV he competed in The Voice of Holland, appeared in Beste Zangers where his duet of Barcelona with opera singer Tania Kross topped the iTunes chart, and won Dancing on Ice in 2020. He has also lent his voice to Dutch versions of Incredibles 2 and Pieter Konijn, showing a range that goes well beyond the stage.
