Tony Visconti has shaped some of the most iconic sounds in rock history, most famously through his decades long partnership with David Bowie that stretched from 1969 all the way to Bowie's final album Blackstar in 2016. That record earned Visconti a Grammy for Best Engineered Album, Non Classical, adding to a career that had already racked up serious production credentials with T. Rex, where he helmed the breakthrough Electric Warrior in 1971 and eleven consecutive UK Top Ten singles starting with 'Ride a White Swan'. Beyond Bowie and Bolan, Visconti's production fingerprints are all over a surprisingly wide range of records. He scored the orchestral arrangements for Paul McCartney and Wings on Band on the Run, worked with Gentle Giant, Morrissey, the Manic Street Preachers, and the Dandy Warhols, and picked up another Grammy producing Angélique Kidjo's Djin Djin, which featured guests including Alicia Keys, Peter Gabriel, and Carlos Santana. The Brooklyn born producer has never really stopped working.
