About
Tribal Seeds have been putting their own stamp on reggae since forming in San Diego in 2005, blending roots reggae with a rock edge that feels genuinely spiritual without being preachy. The band was built around brothers Steven Rene Jacobo on vocals and Tony Ray Jacobo as producer, and they have run their own label from the start, releasing everything on their own terms. Their third album, The Harvest, cracked the Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart at number five, and their 2014 record Representing went all the way to number one, featuring guest turns from Don Carlos, Mykal Rose, and Kyle McDonald of Slightly Stoopid among others. The band's 2017 EP Roots Party also debuted at number one across Billboard, iTunes, and Amazon reggae charts, with a standout collaboration with Protoje on the track Gunsmoke. Their most recent studio record, Ancient Blood from 2024, is a 17 track project packed with guests including Kabaka Pyramid, Hollie Cook, Romain Virgo, and the Twinkle Brothers, showing they are still very much in expansive, collaborative mode.
