About

Also known as: Twisted Sister feat. Sebastian Bach, Twisted Sisters

Few bands in the 1980s metal scene were as instantly recognizable as Twisted Sister, whose slapstick music videos for "We're Not Gonna Take It" and "I Wanna Rock" made them one of the most visually distinctive acts of the hair metal era. Formed in Ho Ho Kus, New Jersey in 1972, the band went through years of grinding six nights a week club gigs and constant lineup shuffles before locking in the classic five piece featuring frontman Dee Snider, guitarists Jay Jay French and Eddie Ojeda, bassist Mark "The Animal" Mendoza, and drummer A.J. Pero in 1982. Their 1984 album Stay Hungry was the breakthrough, landing "We're Not Gonna Take It" in the Billboard Hot 100 top 40. The androgynous glam look, the outsized personalities, and the anthemic, fist in the air songs earned them a devoted following that outlasted the band's original run. After disbanding in 1988, they reunited in the early 2000s, recorded the re working Still Hungry in 2004, and kept performing until the farewell tour that followed Pero's death in 2015.
