About
Unitopia is an Australian progressive rock act founded by Mark Trueack and Sean Timms. Their early work flew under the radar in Europe until their second album caught the attention of the prog community and earned a release through InsideOut Music, a label known for pairing progressive rock with metal. Despite being billed with a metal edge, their sound leans far more toward Peter Gabriel and Steve Winwood territory, with Trueack's distinctly Australian vocal delivery adding another layer of character to the mix. The band went through a period of inactivity after dissolving in 2014, with Trueack moving on to United Progressive Fraternity and Timms forming Southern Empire. The two eventually reconnected, and Unitopia was back in action by 2021. Their catalogue includes a live European record and the 2023 studio album Seven Chambers, showing the band still very much at work.
