About
Also known as: Ryan Edward Upchurch, Ryan Upchurch, Upchurch the Redneck
If you've ever wondered what happens when Southern comedy, country, and rap collide, Upchurch is your answer. The Nashville area native built his fanbase initially through viral comedy videos, including the alter ego "Upchurch the Redneck," a character he and a friend cooked up in 2014 that racked up half a million fans in four months by poking fun at Deep South stereotypes. From there he pivoted into music with real momentum, releasing his debut EP Cheatham County in 2015 and following it with a string of albums that consistently charted on Billboard's Top Country Albums. His range is genuinely impressive: Son of the South sold over 48,000 copies in its first week, while Supernatural leaned rap and still peaked at No. 6 on the country chart. He also runs his own label, Holler Boy Records, which launched country act Chase Matthew before Matthew signed with Warner Records Nashville.
